Tenterfield is a picturesque regional town situated at the junction of the New England and Bruxner highways along the beautiful Northern Tablelands. The location has rolling green hills supporting local agriculture and a growing population. This has resulted in capacity at the existing water treatment plan being exceeded. The plant has been faithfully supplying the town with drinking water since the 1940’s. To increase the capacity of the plant to accommodate for the growing needs of the town, some upgrades were needed.
Eaton, a global supplier of electrical components and solutions, partnered with local electrical wholesaler, GCM Tamworth, and local switchboard manufacturer MB Industries of Tenterfield to design, manufacture and install a solution at the plant. The solution includes, energy efficient and reliable DG1 variable speed drives as well as a motor control centre built using Eaton’s xEnergy modular switchboard system, which is compliant to the AS/NZS 61439 standards, for the plant power distribution with Eaton Powerware UPS designed for maximum uptime.
